Traditional Chinese medicine is comprised of a range of treatment modalities. Some conditions require more varied treatments, while others are simpler. At The Woodford Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinic we offer the following treatments:
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the most common treatment found within traditional Chinese medicine. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into certain parts of the body.
Electro-acupuncture
Electro-acupuncture uses the same points as regular acupuncture, however, a small electrical pulsing current is passed between two needles inserted in the skin.
Auricular Acupuncture
Ears are very sensitive, auricular acupuncture involves using either small seeds or needles attached to certain points on the ear to stimulate the nerves found there.
Moxibustion Therapy
The body reacts to both hot and cold. Moxibustion involves using a burning herb to produce heat and applying that heat to certain parts of the body to stimulate the desired reaction.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping involves the use of round glass cups placed on the skin with a negative internal pressure. The result is a suction effect, the cups suck on to the skin and draw blood to the surface.
Massage
There are various types of massage found within traditional Chinese medicine. They can be used both for medicinal purposes or for relaxation.
Facial Skincare Treatment
We offer a more natural alternative to facial treatment and revitalisation, combining our knowledge of herbs, facial acupuncture and massage.
Herbal Treatments
Herbal treatments are a staple among traditional Chinese medicine. They are normally used along other treatments such as acupuncture or on their own.
